While I was working towards my Bachelor of Science
in Recreation Administration, I told my education major roommates
that I would never teach school. When we moved to a small town,
I began substitute teaching, fell in love with the classroom and
the groups of students and returned to college. At my first school,
I taught a Prekindergarten-Kindergarten combined age classroom.
When they went to PE, I walked down the hall and taught Chemistry
to the high school’s seniors. I’ve been a classroom
teacher, an educational diagnostician, a special education administrator
and now a principal. This is my 19th year in public education and
16 of them have included Holland ISD!
My twelve years out of the classroom left me with
a homesickness for campus life. The opportunity to return to a Holland
campus was perfect!! I’ve enjoyed the first nine weeks of
school and look forward to each day.
