I grew up in Fort Worth and attended a 5A high school. I graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1983 with a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
I taught high school science at Holland for 11 years. While teaching, I worked on my Masters at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor receiving my Education Administration degree in 1998. I was the Holland Elementary Principal for nine years working along side many, many wonderful people. Currently, I am the Holland ISD Superintendent in my third year. I received my superintendent certification in May of 2004 from Tarleton - Central Texas in Killeen.
I have been married to Travis Gunn since February 14, 1984. We have two daughters, Emily and Caity. Emily graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in August 2006 with a bachelors degree in Political Science. She is working on her masters in the George Bush School of Public Policy at Texas A&M University. Caity is currently a 9th grader in Holland High School. My husband owns Indian Creek Nursery in Bartlett where he grows plants for local retail nurseries.
My hobbies include hiking and camping in a variety of locations. My favorite site was in Belize, Central America. I also like to garden organically and can vegetables that my family has cultivated.
My favorite TV show is “Survivor”. I like to see how the social dynamics play out each week. I know that I could not be a contestant on the show because I would probably be voted out the first episode.
