The following students are giving an update of what they are doing and learning in school.
Daycare
We are learning the colors green, red, blue, and
yellow. We are learning about circles,
triangles and rectangles. I like going

PPCD
Our class is working on the colors of fall, the weather and
changes in nature during the season, letters associated with fall and the
holidays and festivals of fall. Reported

Mrs. Milek’s Pre-Kindergarten Class
There is a morning Pre-K and an afternoon Pre-K, both classes are doing the following:
We sing songs like Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the Bus, Teddy Bear, and Button Factory. We have learned the letters Aa, Ff, Jj, Oo, Xx, and Hh. We have talked about the colors red, green, yellow, purple, white, and orange. We have talked about number 1.
In P.E. the class plays Freeze Tag, Sharks and Minnows, exercises and run on the track. The class is learning to stay in the lines when coloring in Art. They are coloring a Jack-O-Lantern.
I like to pay freeze tag in P.E. and color pictures in
Art. I like doing centers the best, like

Kindergarten Class
I like playing on the playground and going to lunch. I am learning a new word. “can”, this week. I like reading books and coloring. Reported

Mrs. Gilley’s Kindergarten Class
We are talking about being safe in a fire. We read books and make books. I read my books to my mom. We do the daily news and circle words we
know. In P.E. we exercise and play
Sharks and Minnows. We are tracing
pumpkins in Art. In Computer time we
played games with a CD on the computer. Reported

Mrs. Maughn’s
Kindergarten Class
We are studying the letters, H, A, P, and J. Our sight words are can, got, go, at and
the. Some of the words are review. We are working on sorting pictures to the
correct letter by listening to the first sound.
During math time we are continuing to learn patterns and creating
different graphs. Science is going to be
a lot of fun because we will be carving a pumpkin and making different kind of
mixtures. We are continuing to learn
days of the week, and the months. We
also do daily news which is one person a day gets to tell the teacher what he
did and she writes it. We have just
begun writing in our journals. For our
letters: we will make “Hippo H’s”, “Sailor S’s”, “Popcorn P’s”, and “Jewelry

Mrs. Diab’s First Grade Class
We have been doing track and running a lot of laps in P.E. We do centers in class. We work a lot. We are learning about firefighters and how to stay out of the fire. In computers there is a new space game! Reported by Sarah Baggerly
Mrs. Frei’s First Grade Class
We have been playing math games in Math. We are learning to count pennies and
dimes. We are taking Accelerated Reading
tests. We watched our bean plants grow
and measured them every day. We read a
lot of Arthur books at the beginning of the year. Our class went on two field trips. We went to a

Grade Class
We are learning addition and subtraction facts in math. We are reading and writing about owls. My favorite center is the writing center. We play games in P.E. and in Spanish we are talking about the calendar and playing bingo on Friday.

Mrs. Doskocil’s Second Grade Class
We are learning about even and odd numbers and about
money. We are doing Accelerated
Reading. We play outside for
recess. On Fridays we go to pep
rallies. I go to the football games

Second Grade Class
In Math, we’ve been learning time, minutes and hours. We’ve been learning how to count by 7’s and
to do temperature. We’ve also been
learning to write big numbers like 913.
We’ve been learning how to read books.
I read four books a night. We got
to go to the cave (Inner Space Caverns) we got to see six bats. We will be starting to learn cursive writing
soon. We are writing about what we’re
going to be for Halloween. In Art, we
are making projects. We exercise and we play
games in P.E. In Spanish we sing songs
and on Fridays, we have free time. We

Second Grade Class
We have been working on fractions and the two ways to write money in Math. I like to play Sharks and Minnows in P.E. I like to play Bingo in Spanish class.

We have been learning about summary and main idea in

Third Grade Class
The first field trip of the year was fun. We went to Inner Space Caverns. We are reading Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH in class. We have been working on measuring in centimeters in Math and have been looking at maps in Social Studies. In P.E. we have been working on our marathon every Thursday. A lot of us get over a mile each time. We’re getting ready for UIL competition. A lot of kids are trying out for teams.

Mrs. Allen Fourth Grade Class
We have been working on main idea, cause and effect, and
story elements in
Mrs. Sekander Fourth Grade Class
In P.E., I know how to play dodge ball and in Math we start
the day with bell work (A math problem the students work on by
themselves.). We know how to do the
staff and the letters on the staff in Music.

Mrs. Malone’s Fifth Grade Class
We are learning about caves, and about the moon phases in

There were a total of 187 students with perfect attendance the first six weeks. Perfect Attendance bracelets where given to these students.
A drawing for a $15 Wal-Mart gift card was held for each class. The students with Perfect Attendance had their name entered for this drawing. The winners are Travis Jurado-Lara in Kindergarten, Nicholas Burkhouse in 1st grade, Timothy Pajestka in 2nd grade, Allison Emery in 3rd grade, Nadia Martinez in 4th grade, and Kinsey Gordon in 5th grade. Congratulations!

Reminder – 3 tardies equal 1 absent. Please try to get your children to school on time.
Children should be kept home for 24 hours if they have had a fever over 100.4 degrees or vomiting.
It is now required that students Kindergarten and younger have two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine.
